The Reverend Pamela Owen Strobel
The Reverend Pamela Owen Strobel arrived at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Ardsley, NY, on Sunday, January 6, 2013, the Feast of the Epiphany. Ordained in 1998 in the Episcopal Diocese of New York, Mother Pam has served parishes in the diocese of New York and the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut. In 2011, she served as a Mission Partner of the Episcopal Church to the Anglican Church in the Democratic Republic of Congo, based in the capital, Kinshasa. Mother Pam left her position as Senior Associate at Christ Church Greenwich, CT, after eleven and a half years in order to answer this missionary call.
Mother Pam is a widow; her son, Andrew, 25, lives with her in the Rectory. She is familiar with Westchester County, having grown up in Scarsdale, and having made her home in Mamaroneck for many years. St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Mamaroneck, sponsored her for ordination in 1991. In her work life, Mother Pam has been employed as a bank teller, durable medical equipment supplier, client accounting manager for BBDO Direct (now Omnicom) and sold encyclopedias door-to-door in California. She has lived in Boston, San Francisco, Greenwich, Kinshasa DRC and now back to Westchester County. Her mother’s family lives in Saskatchewan and her father’s family is deceased. The Strobels have three cats: Cody, Sweety Pi and Little Girl.
Mother Pam’s hobbies are movies, getting together with friends over a meal, walking, and making time to read. Her passion is justice and peace for the Anglican Church in Congo. Brought together by Bishop Drew Smith, the Congo Network meets in New York at the Episcopal Church Center once a month, and seeks to respond to the programs and needs of the Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Congo, the Most Reverend Isingoma Kahwa Henri and his wife, Mugisa. You will be seeing and hearing more about this ministry in the time ahead.
Mother Pam is looking forward to mutual ministry in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, with the good people of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Ardsley, NY. Office telephone is 914-693-3366; Rectory is 914-231-7247.
